How Do You Tell Someone You Love Them

You may have been dating for quite a while and realize you love the person you are in a relationship with. Even though you are sure you love this person, you may be confused as to how to tell them. How do you tell someone you love them?

First, be sure it's love and not just infatuation. Ask yourself how real your feelings are before expressing them to someone else. The last thing you want to do is tell someone you love them when deep down you really don't. It would hurt to have to take your words back.

If you know for sure you love this person, gauge their interest in you. Do they behave in a way that says they love you as well? Have you been together long enough for it to be appropriate to say 'I love you"? Two weeks certainly isn't enough, but six months may very well be. The appropriate time can vary. But, it's important not to rush those words.

Now for the part about how to tell someone you love them. Don't do it when your significant other has had a bad day or is in a bad mood. Their reaction may be based on their day or their mood and not be based on how they really feel. You can tell a person you love them simply by looking them in the eyes and saying "I love you". Or you could say it in a pretty card if you feel a bit intimidated. Poems are also good to express your feelings. Even leaving a note under their pillow is a fun idea. My suggestion is to keep it simple in whatever way you choose.

The most important thing about saying 'I love you' to someone is knowing you mean it. You may or may not get the reaction you want, but keep in mind, your significant other may need some time to absorb your words and get the courage to say them back. Be patient. Love is patient and kind.
